The cuisine of the Palatinate

The culinary culture of the Palatinate has been strongly influenced over the centuries, mainly from the neighbouring country of France and this can be seen in such dishes pate, Flammekuchen or tarte flambé.

Pork is still the main ingredient of many sausage recipes in the Palatinate. Other delicacies are Sauerkraut, smoked ham, trout - fresh from one of the many rivers, white asparagus and the numerous soups, whilst not forgetting that game also has a privileged place in local cuisine.

Restaurants

Wine Shops & Weinstuben

The vinotheques, which can be found throughout the region, stand for Palatinate hospitality and their way of life. They invite you to the completely casual tasting and purchase of wines. Although wine here is in the foreground, it does not mean that there is nothing else to admire. The exceptional architecture of the vinotheques makes it possible to taste the wines in perfect surroundings in order to make the experience even more memorable for the tasters. Wine is not simply drunk here, but experienced with all your senses and there are usually also the appropriate Palatinate “delicacies”. In addition, most of the winegrowers offer their own farm-produced wines for tasting and purchase.
